About Manu'

Manu` is short for Emanuel, our biggest supporter. To honour his memory, we decided to call our next business venture with the name Manu`. We are always in search of our roots, especially when we are out in the wild, admiring nature. When we were young, one of Emanuel’s tricks was to stain our hands with red pigment from the Carthamus plant – known among the Maltese as ‘Xewk ta’ Kristu’. Since this is a fond memory of our childhood, we chose to incorporate the plant’s image in Manu`s logo.

How it started

My interest in wines evolved with AliBaba’s cuisine and with the welcomed discovery of other cultures. With Claudienne, I went on culinary journeys that opened a whole new world of flavours. My vision was always to marry my native culinary skills with Malta’s own local produce, and this is reflected in the humble start of Manu`. Being the first and main purveyors of Lebanese authenticity, we started our journey by importing Lebanese wines from the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, where grapevines need limited manual intervention. Lebanese wines have gained their most deserved popularity in Malta, acquiring an interesting share of the local wine market.

How it evolved

Through further studies and memorable culinary adventures, Manu`s portfolio has been given life. From the magnetic enchantment of Lebanon’s strong wines and aged Arak to an acquired variety of Mediterranean tastes, followed by the exploration of remote vineyards in South America, and to the luxurious world of Champagne, we set to discover an infinite world of wines and share them with our own homeland. The rest is called Manu`, the importer and distributor of wines and spirits.
